Enrich your natural science classes with a hands-on experience your students will remember! Kathy’s Critters specializes in:
- arthropods and other misunderstood but friendly critters.
Our critters include:
- Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches
- scorpions and tarantulas.
All presentations are structured according to grade level and can be adapted to a specific subject area such as “Amphibians and Reptiles” or “Insects, Arachnids and Other Arthropods”. At the end of the program, the students can come up to the exhibit table for an up-close hands-on experience. Each presentation begins with an introduction to each of the animals, where they come from, what they eat, and what role they play in the environment.
The lecturer dispels age-old misconceptions and myths about these animals and teaches children the importance of all living creatures. Incorporating live animals and large realistic models, the lecturer describes each animal and its characteristics. Students will learn: Classification and characteristics Predator/Prey relationships, The differences between omnivores, herbivores and carnivores, The roles animals play in the environment, Appreciation of all living creatures and more. Presentations include a fact and fun-filled teacher’s manual with reproducible coloring pages, word search game, vocabulary list and more. Teacher’s workshops are also available! Learn how to care for your classroom critters, how to start an insect collection, or how to build a butterfly and wildlife garden in your schoolyard.
