About:

If a spoken tale can sail the sea of your mind, then welcome to a kind of storytelling where music is the wind itself. You’ll find great myths, world folk tales, fairy tales, Biblical and original stories for all ages.

Elementary Schools: What happens at an Odds Bodkin performance? He performs on numerous instruments (12-string guitars, Celtic harp and African thumb piano, sometimes electric guitar and foot drum) and educates students about them.  Midway through each show, which can begin with Odds’ relaxing harp music as students enter, he invites the audience to stretch in a fun, musical way. Every Odds story is age appropriate.

A typical K-3 performance will include:

  •     Harp music as students enter
  •  Introduction to how to listen with a 12-string guitar
  • 'The Name of Tree' an African animal tale performed on thumb piano
  • What Was It - A fun, finger-snapping song story where Odds’ teaches the students a refrain after a Q&A about what sort of pets they have at home
  • The Wind and the Sun, an Aesop’s fable performed with Celtic harp
  • Tale of the Kittens, another sing along story, this from Italy, with a chorus that children can’t wait to sing over and over.

Middle and High Schools: Over the years, Odds has specialized in middle school and high school audiences.  His powerhouse performances include:

  • The Odyssey: Belly of the Beast, Beowulf the Rescue
  •  A Mile in my Shoes: Tales of Compassion
  • The Dame Ragnelle: The Eye can be Deceiving
  • Tales of the Supernatural
  • The Rage of Hercules.
